    Job Description

    Invisible Fence of South East Ontario is seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing and motivated Part-Time Independent Outside Sales Consultant. The ideal candidate has proven success in in-home retail sales, strong one-call closing skills and is motivated to achieve goals.

    As an independent outside sales consultant, your responsibilities will include:

    • Conducting outside sales calls in customer homes
    • Booking your own appointments
    • Meeting with homeowners and dogs, touring the yard and determining product solutions to best fit customer needs
    • Follow up calls
    • Conducting sales and marketing visits to area vet offices and other pet service business to educate them on how we can help them help their customers.
    • Participating in sales and marketing home and pet shows as assigned

    Job Responsibilities

    Outside sales consultant will meet homeowners and their pets to explain the benefits of purchasing Invisible Fence Brand. As an outside sales representative, you will also participate in other sales and marketing related tasks including:

    • Explaining products, services and prices
    • Demonstrating use of Invisible Fence brand products and answering questions about product features and benefits
    • Providing customers with professional, direct, face-to-face service and developing positive relationship with customers
    • Contacting customers Distributing product literature that details Invisible Fence Brand products and services to vet offices and other companies
    • Participating in opportunities to increase industry knowledge, and constantly researching and educating self on products and services to provide solid, accurate information to customers


    The ideal outside sales consultant will be enthusiastic, outgoing and motivated with proven success in in-home sales, strong one-call closing skills and is motivated to achieve goals. Qualified candidates will be subjected to a pre-employment background check. To be an outside sales representative, you will also need:

    • At least 2 years experience in sales; outside sales background with in-home sales experience selling quality, high end products is preferred
    • Strong time management, organizational and prioritization skills
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Strong customer service & relationship building skills
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

    Job Type: Commission

    Required education:

    • High school or equivalent

    Required experience:

    • Inhome sales: 2 years

    This is a seasonal Full Time / seasonal Part Time position that is responsible for the installation of new Invisible Fence® Systems and for the servicing of existing systems. 

    • Follows installation and service schedule as determined by the Sales/Service Center.
    • Operation of company van.
    • Installs Invisible Fence System including laying wire, mounting equipment, flagging the property, reviewing the installation with the customer, and conducting training for the dog or cat.
    • Services existing systems identifying problems and making the necessary repairs..
    • Completes contracts with serial numbers, installation map, customer checklist, and method of payment.
    • Prepares customer invoice and collects payment at the time of service.
    • Tracks drive time, mileage, time with customer, amount charged, amount paid, and calculation for each customer contact on the daily envelope.
    • Obtains inventory needed weekly and loads into the van.
    • Conducts inventory of all supplies on hand the last day of each month and submits it to the Sales/Service Center.
    • Cleans company van weekly and maintains equipment.
    • Obtains referrals from customers to be turned over to Sales Representatives.
    • At times may do sales presentations.
    • Works at Home Shows answering questions, providing information, and generating leads.
    • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.

    High School Diploma or equivalency or equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicant must be bondable and able to pass a criminal background check. 

    • Invisible Fence Brand Product Knowledge
    • Familiarity with warranty and product pricing information
    • Ability to operate power tools (i.e. Stehl saw to cut concrete, electric drill and hand grinder)
    • Ability to keep timely and accurate records
    • Communication skills, interpersonal skills, and customer service skills required for dealing with the customers
    • Breed knowledge and dog training skills
    • Technical aptitude, trouble shooting skills, and problem solving skills required for servicing existing systems
    • Ability to be flexible and to work as part of a team
    • Valid Driver's License clear of any infractions
    • Extremely physical work including climbing, walking, digging, and loading and unloading the van
    • Frequently requires lifting of up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds
    • Frequently working outdoors and exposed to all types of weather conditions
    • Frequently using power tools and exposed to noise and dirt
    • Frequently driving to customers' homes
    • Frequently working with customers' dogs or cats
